The McColl Pond Environmental Learning Center at Community Park is a community center and gathering place modeling a greener way of life. The buidling itself is a real world example of sustainable architecture and design, and it sits next to beautiful McColl pond and pier. McColl Pond is committed to
Sustainability and Environmental Education.

The Environmental Learning Center (ELC for short) includes McColl Pond, 10 acres of woodlands, marshes, and restored prairie–oak savanna. Natural and paved trails wind throught this area and the adjacent Savage Community Park.
The building itself is an 8,264 square foot model for builders interested in incorprating green features into their residential and commercial projects. The McColl Pond Envrionmental Learning Center's two envrionmental classrooms, a multi-purpose room and an outdoor covered patio.

The McColl Pond Environmental
Learning Center's mission is to:

•   Increase awareness of the natural world though observation and hands–on learning
•   Encourage social understanding, respect, and cooperation
•   Promote values and behaviors that strengthen relationships with the earth
•   Demonstrate sustainable construction and landscaping choices
•   Support the re–use, recycling, and reduction of household waste
